“Worship”
1: to honor or show reverence for as a divine being or supernatural power
This is the definition you probably expected. But there is another one that I would like us to briefly look at.
2. to regard with great or extravagant respect, honor, or devotion
When I read this one I was reminded that if we are not careful we can worship something or someone other than Daddy and Jesus.
The Israelites did this waiting on Moses.
Exodus 3:7+8
And the Lord said to Moses, “Go, get down! For your people whom you brought out of the land of Egypt have corrupted themselves. They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them. They have made themselves a molded calf, and worshiped it and sacrificed to it, and said, This is your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt!’ ”
This is not the “worship” we want to get caught up in. Idol worship…money, people, material things.
We want to “Worship” in Spirit and in Truth.
John 4:23+24
But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
The great thing is we can “Worship” Him right we’re we are. So let’s not wait until Sunday to put our worship on.
A good friend of ours, Simon Oliver, has a very nice post on Worship today. I thought it would be a good reminder for us.
“I love this song God is constantly worthy of our praise, problem is we so often wear the glasses of this world and sit as those without hope, when Christ Himself has given us free access to the father, And a clear way of escape. We are a mess but chosen , we stumble and fall yet Christ can lift us up. Take some time in worship, if heaven is your destination worship will be your natural expression toward God regardless of your trial or current disaster.. He is worthy.”
Simon Oliver
