So I was reading the other day. I came across Jesus’ parable of the lost sheep, Like 15:4-7.
How do we learn Gods voice? Being around Him. Reading his word, praying and listening. I think we as Christians lack in our listening to what God wants to say. I promise I am going to tie these to thoughts together.
One sheep wanders off from the Shepherd. I was wondering why the Shepherd didn’t yell at the sheep. Something like this ” stop get over here.” Then it dawned on me. If he yelled too loud that might get the attention of a wolf or a predator. Maybe the sheep had wandered beyond being able to hear the shepherd.
If we are not careful we could be the one of those who wander off. We may not do it on purpose but before we know it we can’t hear the Shepherd. This world is full of things to distract us and take our mind off God.
The great thing is we don’t have to wait for the Shepherd to come and find us. We can start making our way back. Through prayer, reading and being still.
Psalm 46:10
Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!
